American Direct, a leader in security systems integration, envisioned a refreshed, intuitive web-based demo of their AccessNsite (ANS) 2.0 platform for the 2022 ISC West tradeshow. Their goal was to make a strong impression with an updated interface that not only aligned with brand aesthetics but also delivered clarity, consistency, and usability across workflows—showcasing the sophistication of their security management capabilities.

Enhancing the AccessNsite Platform: UX/UI Innovation for ISC West

Background
Challenges
The existing demo site had inconsistent UI patterns and lacked visual accessibility. It relied on a dated theme and did not effectively communicate the product's strengths. American Direct needed a revamped experience that highlighted critical workflows in a fast-turnaround environment—without overhauling the full backend or core architecture. This effort required expert guidance to prioritize what could be designed, implemented, and tested within a short timeframe, all while working within the limitations of the Color Admin 4.2 responsive theme.

This effort required expert guidance to prioritize what could be designed, implemented, and tested within a short timeframe, all while working within the limitations of the Color Admin 4.2 responsive theme.

Approach
UpTop initiated the project by conducting a detailed walkthrough of American Direct’s top use cases and workflows. We reviewed all existing documentation and assets, gaining a deep understanding of the ANS 2.0 platform. With an emphasis on rapid iteration, we developed a plan that prioritized UX enhancements based on user scenarios critical to the ISC West demo.
We worked collaboratively with American Direct, validating flows and providing clarity on constraints. Our team focused on refining contrast, improving accessibility, and ensuring visual consistency—without straying from brand guidelines. All UI designs were crafted to be compatible with Bootstrap and Color Admin for streamlined development handoff.

Solution
Our UX designers delivered a set of polished, responsive mockups that brought cohesion and clarity to the ANS 2.0 interface. Design elements were updated to improve visual hierarchy, accessibility, and consistency—strengthening the storytelling within each workflow.
Our frontend development team then implemented these designs using Bootstrap and Color Admin 4.2, ensuring responsiveness across browsers and screen sizes. While user testing was outside the scope of this pre-tradeshow effort, the foundation was laid for usability validation in future phases.

Results & Impact
The upgraded ANS 2.0 demo debuted at ISC West with a cleaner, more professional interface that effectively guided attendees through the product’s capabilities. American Direct was equipped with a user-friendly, visually compelling demo that communicated product value with confidence.
While the tradeshow marked the initial milestone, this collaboration created a scalable design framework for future enhancements. American Direct left the event better positioned to engage prospects, differentiate from competitors, and continue iterating toward a production-ready interface.
